Keep your community safe from phishing.

web3 pioneers are still using web2 tools

Phishing & Web3

Unfortunately, phishing attacks remain a persistent threat to the web3 community. This is due to the abundant use of web2 tools to communicate and participate in these types of communities.

Let’s start with the difference between web3 and web2. Many have undertaken the task of defining these terms in the philosophical or financial differences; but for our purposes we are not focused on those elements, only on the security offered by decentralization and why it matters for secure tools.

Web3 tools, plainly put, rely on decentralized blockchain ledger activity, and leverage the strength and security of using wallet addresses and decentralization rather than centralized databases and usernames.

But there are not enough social tools that leverage web3 for the security benefits.

The Rise of the Account Hack

Because scammers and hackers know that NFT collectors and crypto traders are highly engaged on twitter, discord, telegram, etc. And many NFT collectors believe their assets are safe because of the protection of the blockchain.

This is true to some degree, technically speaking. But most scams/hacks are NOT implemented through technical vulnerabilities, but rather through social engineering.

Scammers prey on the ignorance, greed and emotional decision making that comes with crypto engagement. Because they can’t hack your wallet, they settle for hacking discord.

This kind of attack leaves no assets at risk, but the attacker then posts messages or an urgent nature, requiring users to “verify” or something else.

A New Tool to Escape Phishing

RugZombie is proud to introduce a new tool that makes phishing attacks LESS likely by providing on-chain verification of messages.

Simply put, by leveraging the blockchain, our bot allows an influencer, project owner, or really anyone, to send messages to their community through the power and security of the blockchain.

The only way to compromise this message is to compromise the wallet itself.
